I have to give almost any state quilt documentation book 3 stars there is always something to like but this one from 1980,early in the list of such books, compares unfavorably to other and later publications by state documentation teams The Arkansas Quilt Guild traveled through the state documenting quilts and conducting research in 12 quilt days over just seven months. It presents a varied collection of antique quilts but no explanation of how they were chosen There is no discernible plan I have to give almost any state quilt documentation book 3 stars there is always something to like but this one from 1980,early in the list of such books, compares unfavorably to other and later publications by state documentation teams The Arkansas Quilt Guild traveled through the state documenting quilts and conducting research in 12 quilt days over just seven months. It presents a varied collection of antique quilts but no explanation of how they were chosen There is no discernible plan for arrangement either by time period or other factors.Photos of some of the quilts in several historical sites adds a nice touch but often does not show the quilt very well Individual information on each quilt was quite scarce Size data was inconsistent sometimes with actual measurements and other times using terms like full size or double bed size I find it odd that they would not have the actual size for each one as a basic component of documentation and examination.Makers and owners were listed when known but seldom were any other interesting facts or features pointed out One quilt had a visible date on it but was listed as circa.Other observations An identical large photo of the Book Committee is found at both the beginning and end of the book I noticed that a large proportion 22 of the quilts were owned by Glenda and Larry Harvey A full page photo of Bill Clinton, Governor at the time, with Hillary and Chelsea, accompanies his Introduction to the book Multiple examples of Carolina Lily, Ocean Wave, Irish Chain, Rocky Mountain, Crazy quilts,Rose of Sharon, Hummingbird, and many quilts using circles and spikes Again, enjoyable enough but a light weight in it s field probably unfairly comparing it to what was to follow

The pictures in this book are fascinating, it is like looking into a different world with the history presented here Amazingly enough, the Introduction for Quilters Guild was written by, Gov Bill Clinton Interesting This book is not just a picture book of quilts, but a history book that happens to specialize in quilts This book is an absolute plethora of genealogical information on women that probably would not be able to be found elsewhere I think I might have found several of my ge The pictures in this book are fascinating, it is like looking into a different world with the history presented here Amazingly enough, the Introduction for Quilters Guild was written by, Gov Bill Clinton Interesting This book is not just a picture book of quilts, but a history book that happens to specialize in quilts This book is an absolute plethora of genealogical information on women that probably would not be able to be found elsewhere I think I might have found several of my genealogy here myself
